Fashion Details (Week 4)

Basically, this week we still learn how to draw fashion details, but the difference is we use books or magazines as our resource. Well, in my opinion, I think drawing fashion flats from magazines or books as our references are much more difficult rather than we look directly into the real garments because when we look into a picture in magazines or books, it is quite difficult for me to focus on the details especially the seams.

Therefore, before I start sharing what I draw for this week, I did some research about types of neckline. Here it is!

1. Sweetheart neckline

The characteristic of the sweetheart neckline is it creates the shape of the top of heart.
2. Straight across neckline

Straight across neckline is type of neckline which is a straight line at the front and just above the breast.
3. Off-shoulder neckline

Well, as what the name of this neckline is, off-shoulder means the straps drop from the shoulder to the arms. The off-shoulder could be vary in styles,but in this picture it features the off-shoulder dress with the sweetheart neckline.
4. Jewel neckline

Jewel neckline has a rounded neckline which could allow the view of necklaces or pendants and usually this neckline was applied without a collar.
5. Scoop neckline

(source: Irockbags.com)The characteristic from this neckline is it forms a U-shaped neckline which can be more or less plunging.
6. V-neck neckline

V-neck is a type of neckline which gives a triangle shape or it forms a V-shaped neckline with more or less plunging.
7. Bateau neckline

Bateau is a wide neckline which cross horizontally from one shoulder to the other shoulder, usually it cross under the collarbone 
8. Sabrina neckline

Sabrina neckline is similar with Bateau neckline. The differences is Sabrina neckline cross horizontally from one shoulder to the others and it covers the collarbone. 

9. Halter neckline

Halter is a type of neckline which usually focused on the straps which get linked behind the neck.
10. Square neckline

Square neckline is a neckline which two edges forming a 90° rounded corners. 
11. Court neckline

Court neckline is similar with the square neckline, but the difference is the two edges formed a sharp 90° corner instead a rounded corner.
12. High neck neckline

Well, high neck neckline has a characteristic which goes and cover the neck partially and totally cover the breast.
13. Spaghetti strap neckline

Spaghetti strap neckline is a type of neckline which focused on the strap that looks very thin and reminding us of  "spaghetti".
14. Halter strap neckline

Halter strap neckline has a characteristic which usually features a V-neck or a sweetheart neckline with the strap addition that wrap around and connect at the neck.
15. Asymmetric neckline

Well, asymmetric neckline is a type of neckline which both side looks different. It can be cut differently or anything else which can represent the difference from the both side.
16. Queen Anne neckline

The unique characteristic of the Queen Anne neckline is the collar which goes up to the back of the neck and it the shoulder's socket was covered. 
17. Illusion neckline

Illusion neckline has a characteristic of using 2 different fabrics to create an optical illusion. Usually it features the sweetheart neckline or a V-neck neckline and continued by a transparent fabric or lace fabric to cover the neck.
18. Grecian neckline

Grecian neckline is a type of neckline which has an extra fabric added from the center of the breast goes up and surround the neck.
19. Keyhole neckline

Keyhole neckline has a characteristic of having a circle, oval, or slit at the front or back of the dress that resembles a "keyhole".
20. Cowl neckline

Cowl neckline is one from types of neckline which has materials draped softly in rounded folds around the neck.

Well, that is all what I searched about different types of neckline. Now, I am going to share what I drew for types of collar, fastenings, neckline, and waist suppression.

6 Types of Collar

1. All the details consist of a chimney collar with a kangaroo pocket and a big ribbon just bellow the neck with overlock hem finishes.

2. Well, this is how my fashion flat looks like. The details are tie neck collar and an invisible zipper. 
3. Well, in this picture, the collar is a peter pan collar and there is an inverted box pleats at the waist seam. For the back view, this is the design that I thought it will be and it used a button and loop fastening.

4. Well, in this picture the details are a high stand collar and an outer-garment with notched collar, button and buttonhole fastening, and a waist dart

5. The characteristic of this garment is a chelsea collar, a jetted pocket, and button and buttonhole as the fastener, while at the back there is waist darts

6. In this garment, the details are 2 opened-end metal zipper on both armhole, two-way metal zipper fastener, 3 closed-end metal zipper which are on the sleeve and bodice, notched collar, a center bar buckle, and lastly a fake pocket which is only the flap on it.

6 Types of waist suppression

19. Well, in this garment the waist suppression is a rope which was tied on the waist, while the back view is what I thought the design supposed to be and I added two waist darts at the waistline.
